Daney Varghese (1975, UAE), Associate Producer, Assisted -  Programming Director, Copywriter, Radio Jockey and Research Assistant studied Commerce from the prestigious University of Gujarat (BCom) and holds an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) degree from the Trimurti Institute of Management Studies, Baroda. He was also officially awarded for adept camera handling, lighting, direction and editing, SAE, Dubai .

 

May 2000, marks a consequential year in Daney Varghese’s career. It all started with designing a course for the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA). He started with being a Research Assistant and helped out in a programme on CREATING ADVERTISING. His research, development and promotion of data (CD-ROM) won him accolades - MICA Urban Market Ratings (MUMR) and MICA Rural Market Ratings (MRMR).

 

Chasing his long time dream Daney Varghese thus moved on to become a Copywriter with Goldmine Advertising Limited, Ahmedabad, expanding his talent and creativity for ideating for the printing medium on various assignments for print ads, brochures and hoardings. His prestigious list of clientele included State Bank of India (SBI), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Sardar Sarover Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL), Gujarat Tourism, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Zinzuwadia Brothers Jeweller, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Vertis ac’s. To further understand the finer nuances of the creative field, Daney Varghese went on for some hands on experience with Radio Jockeying with Radio Mirchi, Ahmedabad (91.9FM). He also extended his creativity and helped out with promotional campaigns and commercials.

 

Daney Varghese, the Content Writer had far exceeded expectations, content writing added another feather in his cap with Mudra Advertising Gallerie, MAG India . His various stints included writing for Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Group (GSPC Group), iNDEXTb, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Copywriting was not far behind, working with Avanti Communications, Bangalore . Moving on to greener pastures with esteemed clients gave him the required exposure, Silver Oak, Gazebo, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Rotary Club, and DHFL Vysya Housing Finance Ltd for print ads, brochures and leaflets.

 

Daney Varghese had arrived. Working with different organizations and achieving a universal outlook with a transformed perspective that gave Daney Varghese an edge over his competitors. Dec 2003, joined Shamal Media Services (106.2 HUMFM), and soon Assisted the Programming Head. Apart from working on developing ideas for capsules, contests, developing on-air content for sponsored clients, and a weekend stint with a show - Khushiyon Ke Rang Hamare Sang. Idea generation, scripting and involvement in other production areas gave him a strong foothold in radio production. His capsule on cricket (KHATRUGHAN THE THIRD UMPIRE) - executed in the voice of Shatrughan Sinha and sponsored by Coca Cola was well appreciated. The concept was conceived with the voice rendering by Daney Varghese. Neem Hakim Natwarlal executed in the voice of Sanjeev Kumar was sponsored by Samsung for the evening drive time show again was a comical doctor conceived, voiced, scripted and produced by Daney Varghese.

 

His expansive portfolio includes voiceovers for Amitabh, Asrani, Utapl Dutt, Mithun and for many promos and ads. His stint as a content writer worked well for website www.humfm.com, and he also got involved in keeping track of daily on-air activities for the Radio. Besides, Daney Varghese wrote editorials that contained write-ups of Bollywood legends and Bollywood trivia.

 

We all have interests and some things we like doing more than any other, and if our interest or hobby becomes our work, life takes a new meaning. Daney’s many interests are all inter-linked and all his hobbies have helped him achieve the status he has today.

 

Not so surprisingly, Daney Varghese plays instruments like the Tabla and has undergone professional training for it. He also plays the Flute and the Harmonica, which helps give him a fair understanding of Indian classical music. Writing poems and writing and directing plays has been one of his keen interests since he was in college.

After years of struggle and making a mark for himself and gaining an edge over his competitors, today Daney Varghese works with Real Media Zee Network FZ LLC as an Associate Producer with Zee Arabiya, he once handled the programming and production division for Zee Cinema, Middle East, and has an active hand in the making of the film promos and promos for special activities on Zee Cinema Middle East. His tasks also included making the Monthly FPC, getting relevant promos for the week ready, devising small properties and segments.

 

Currently, Daney is working with City 7 Television UAE's Premier English language television as a Producer. Having worked on Inside Business as a Co-Producer for about one and half years, he is now working on two of his own programs Geeks Gadgets and Techs a show based on the latest in technical products and City Cinema a show talking about the latest in movies in UAE. Modest about his accomplishments Daney Varghese says ‘he has a long way to go’.
